Six Ways to Keep Your Kids Safe
Teens often turn to drugs when they’re bored and unsupervised. Here’s what you can do right now to change that.
Steps You Can Take Today
Small actions, big impact. Here’s how to show up for the young people in your life.
-
Give Information
Make sure your kids know the power and danger of drugs.
-
Share Knowledge
Know where your kids are going, who they will be with, and what kind of supervision there will be.
-
Keep It Real
Maintain open communication. Watch for behavior changes. Listen without judgment so your kids feel safe coming to you with problems.
-
Keep Them Busy
Help them get a job, arrange activities with friends, plan trips to see family, etc.
-
Love Them
Show them how much you care and give them praise for the good things they do.
-
Be a Good Example
Model the behavior you want to see. And if you or someone you know needs professional help, seek it.
